OBAMA TALKS LIKE HE IS ROOSEVELT REBORN!

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” —Ronald Reagan

During Saturdays Presidential -elect radio talk ( when did this become an accepted practice?)Obama made his pitch to the American public to accept his Socialist program as a way to get US out of the present recession. This was made with the urgency that Roosevelt used in 1930's to the American public that was in the depths of the Great Depression, not a recession that this Country has endured many times without resorting to radical left measures!

"I am announcing a few key parts of my plan. First, we will launch a massive effort to make public buildings more energy-efficient. Our government now pays the highest energy bill in the world. We need to change that. We need to upgrade our federal buildings by replacing old heating systems and installing efficient light bulbs. That won't just save you, the American taxpayer, billions of dollars each year. It will put people back to work.
Second, we will create millions of jobs by making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s.(sounds like the 1939s speech of Roosevelt) Well invest your precious tax dollars in new and smarter ways, and well set a simple rule - use it or lose it. If a state doesn't act quickly to invest in roads and bridges in their communities, theyll lose the money.( If you do not do as I say I will take the money away)Third, my economic recovery plan will launch the most sweeping effort to modernize and upgrade school buildings that this country has ever seen.( how about improving the quality of educationa nd teachers?) We will repair broken schools, make them energy-efficient, and put new computers in our classrooms. Because to help our children compete in a 21st century economy, we need to send them to 21st century schools".
As we renew our schools and highways, well also renew our information superhighway. It is unacceptable that the United States ranks 15th in the world in broadband adoption. Here, in the country that invented the Internet, every child should have the chance to get online, and they'll get that chance when I'm President( and you can pay for it with you hard earned dollars in the form of taxes) - because that's how we'll strengthen Americas competitiveness in the world.
In addition to connecting our libraries and schools to the Internet, we must also ensure that our hospitals are connected to each other through the Internet. That is why the economic recovery plan Im proposing will help modernize our health care system - and that wont just save jobs, it will save lives. We will make sure that every doctors office and hospital in this country is using cutting edge technology and electronic medical records so that we can cut red tape, prevent medical mistakes,( this is absoutely absurd-we are humans and humans make mistakes) and help save billions of dollars each year."

He continued, but you can get the point of his quasi fireside chat! He is asking the public to accept a program that will not create one dollar of income, but will spend billions of dollars on "make work projects" that will only increase the Federal deficit and devalue our dollar. It will also have to be paid for by the taxpayers!

Many people believe that Roosevelt stopped the Great Depression by instituting his "New Deal", but really the great depression was an event that occurred in the fall of 1929, because during the 1920's a boom was created that was driven by hundreds of poorly capitalized investment Trusts that borrowed money to invest in stocks.By September of 1929 it all began to unravel with stocks losing 1/4 of their value between October 28 and 29th! That would be the equivalent of stocks losing 2500base points in a two day period today!

World War two started the economic boom, because all manufacturing was running full blast to churn out war materials. However, the hangover Recession was to last until 1954.So you see we are not any where near the disaster that presented itself in the days of Hoover and Roosevelt, but Obama and his minions would like YOU to think we are so he can push through his socialist programs!

THE RECESSION THAT LIBERALS WANT US TO THINK IS A DEPRESSION

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” —Ronald Reagan

Even Presidnt-elect Obama is talking about the recession we are experiencing now as though it were the redo of 1929. In his speech yesterday he used the latest unemployment numbers to boost his welfare program plans as a way out of this "economic disaster".

"There are no quick or easy fixes to this crisis ... and it's likely to get worse before it gets better," Obama said. "At the same time, this ... provides us with an opportunity to transform our economy to improve the lives of ordinary people by rebuilding roads and modernizing schools for our children, investing in clean energy solutions to break our dependence on imported oil, and making an early down payment on the long-term reforms that will grow and strengthen our economy for all Americans for years to come."

To begin with when President Roosevelt introduced his "New Deal" the unemployment rate was 25% NOT 6.7%! And bank failures were in the thousands, not 400 as we have today! Every time a worker loses their job it is a personal tragedy, but the unemployment rate can be decieving. It is measured via surveys of all who did not work for the month from the age of 14 years old!

An example of severe unemployment can be seen in Great Britain where nearly ten million people are out of work - more than six times the official unemployment rate -British economists, however, predict that the jobless total will eventually peak at somewhat below the near 3 million mark reached in the 1990s recession.

Hisstory shows that a long-term, global perspective is needed to understand fully the unemployment problem and the prospects for eliminating it. Over the past four decades, the world economy has generated more than one billion jobs, more than were created during the previous four centuries. If past trends continue, it will create another 1.3 billion jobs during the next 35 years. The current anxiety in the USA and the West is similar to that which the United States passed through in the 1890s when agricultural mechanization displaced 4.4 million farm workers, generating double digit unemployment and visions of a dismal future. Yet, over the last 100 years, employment in the United States grew by nearly 100 million jobs or 400 per cent. Between 1990 and 2005, it increased by another 23 million. Between 1990 and 2005, it increased by another 23 million. During the last 15 years, total employment in the EU-15 rose by 26.6 million or 19 percent. The same process of structural transition is repeating itself today and raising the same anxieties.
Contrary to common belief, the US employment rate, the percentage of total population with jobs, has risen steadily throughout the century from 38 per cent to 46 per cent of the total population and reached 48 per cent in 2005.

Another factor that affects the unemployment rate, that is purposly avoided by the media, is the dramatic increase of illegal immigrants who arrive here unemployed each day. It is estimated at over 20 million! Yet the Democrats and Rinos choose not to address this obvious employment factor. We can expect the amnesty bill to resurface in the Obama administartion, and this will add to the unemployment benefits costs to US taxpayers!!
Source: The National Bureau of Economic Research

Unemployment is being used by the Media and the Democrats, led by Obama, to justify every bigger government programs—from national industrial policies to governmnet paid civilian labor force expenditures to a return to New Deal-type “make work” projects. However, there is devastating evidence that the major cause of high unemployment, both cyclical and secular, is government itself.

I believe that the Keynesian fiscal demand-management with such policies as minimum wages, labor controls, unemployment compensation, and welfare have played significant roles in generating joblessness. History illustrates that the policies of both President Hoover and President Roosevelt prolonged and exacerbated unemployment during the Great Depression!
Will we see a redo of what Roosevelt did in the 1930s?

WHEN WILL THE CONGRESS BAIL OUTS END?

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” —Ronald Reagan

First there was the bail out of Bear Stearns, the American Insurance Group, Lehman Brothers, and CitiCorp, then Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and now Congress is considering a multi=billion dollar tax payer bail out for the Big Three automakers.

To sweeten the scam the Media is trumpeting that the UAW has agreed to open their contract to talks! There is an implied concession of benefits and salary by the union to help keep the Big Three afloat. But based upon past expedience, and we have only that to go on, do not count on any reduction in benefits or salary.

This is a small portion that once upon a time was the main player in the Auto industry. Today we have many American citizens making Mercedes, Toyota's, and Honda's that do not have the absurdly bloated benefit packages that have dragged the Big 3 down.

If the market place is any indication of the American public attitude toward the quality of cars made by foreign car makers versus those made by the Big 3. The foreign cars win hands down. Just spend a few minutes during the morning commute and you will see the preponderance of foreign cars made here in the USA by foreign manufactures. They just make a better car!

The Democrats like Carl Levin and Christopher Dodd have appeared on the nightly news to decry not bailing out the Big 3. They repeatedly state that no one would buy a car if the automakers go bankrupt, as if this would halt production and nullify all warranty's!

The only thing to do with a bloated company that is running out of money is to force them into Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The 34 billion the Big 3 are asking for will give them temporary relief, but the main problem of the Union benefits and retirement bloated structure will still drag them down, and they will come back for more after Obama is in the Oval office.

The Chapter 11 bankruptcy law allows the company to reorganize while still carrying out business. It is used mostly by businesses. In chapter 11, you may continue to operate your business, but your creditors and the court must approve a plan to repay your debts. There is no trustee unless the judge decides that one is necessary; if a trustee is appointed, the trustee takes control of your business and property. Blogger note: In this case the Big 3 need a trustee to arbitrate the fight that the UAW will present to any reduction of their salary and benefits agreements.

Lot of talk has been bantered around about the UAW concessions that have been made. So far he only concession is to allow a provision that pays laid off employees 95% of their salary, to expire. It was scheduled to end next year!

The next applicant for a taxpayer bail out if the Big 3 get theirs, is the steel workers. Thanks to a lawsuit filed by leftist Congressman Dennis Kucinich, on behalf of the steel workers union, Judge Randolph Baxter granted a temporary restraining order against LTV Steel. The Stipulation and Agreed Standstill Order reached this Thursday puts a halt to any shutdown at LTV Steel pending the bankruptcy hearing in Judge William Bodoh's courtroom in Youngstown, Ohio on Tuesday, Dec. 4th.

This action successfully stopped the immediate shut down of the East Side works and protected the jobs of Cleveland steelworkers. This agreement stops LTV from proceeding with a plan to shut down the entire East Side Works prior to the Youngstown hearing. Why were they shutting down? Because the union contracts cost more than the profit LTV Steel could make!

And if that was not enough to get your attention. Then consider this. The Home builders Association is waiting in the background to petition Congress for their own version of a bail out due to he Housing slow down. After them comes the legislation to support lower mortgage rates for minorities and people who cannot afford the present rates. This too will be heaped on the taxpayer and further devalue our dollar!

It has to stop some where, unless you want to take a bushel basket of money to the grocery store to buy a bag of groceries!

BEING WELL PREPARED AND WELL ARMED ARE THE KEYS TO SAFETY

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and will never be. ~ Thomas Jefferson

At least 10 terrorists, having arrived by small craft on the shores of Mumbai, began to sow death and destruction at will across India's financial capital. They were at a distinct advantage because of the lack of fire power in those charged with security and the police force within the City of Mumbi.

What resulted was three days of battle between well armed Muslim terrorists and poorly armed security force. What happened in Mumbai shows just how a small but ruthless group of skilled militants, attacking multiple targets in quick succession, managed to bring one of the world's largest cities to its knees. The human toll -- currently at 174 fatalities, including nine terrorists -- was exacerbated by the Indian authorities' lack of preparedness, and failure to arm those charged with securing the safety of the citizens and visitors to this vacation "paradise" close to the Taj Mahal. The chain of events also points to just how vulnerable any major city can be to this type of urban warfare if it is not prepared!

At about 9:45 p.m., two gunmen, slender and in their mid-20s, ran up the circular driveway at the entrance to the Trident Hotel. They shot the security guard and two bellhops. The hotel had metal detectors, but none of its security personnel carried weapons because of the difficulties in obtaining gun permits from the Indian government, according to the hotel company's chairman, P.R.S. Oberoi. The gunmen raced through the marble-floored lobby, past the grand piano into the adjoining Veranda restaurant, firing at the guests and shattering the windows.

At the end of the lobby, they burst into a bar called the Opium Den, shooting dead a hotel staff member. Then they ran after a group of guests who tried to escape through a rear service area. They killed them, too.

They killed four of six friends who live in south Mumbai and had just settled down at a table near the front door. One member of the group, a mother of two, threw herself to the ground and shut her eyes, pretending to be dead. The men circled the restaurant, firing at point blank range into anyone who moved before rushing upstairs to an Indian restaurant called Kandahar.

"Remember Babri Masjid?" one of the gunmen shouted, referring to a 16th-century mosque built by India's first Mughal Muslim emperor and destroyed by Hindu radicals in 1992.
The policemen were badly outgunned. The gunmen killed one officer and escaped down the stairs, into a narrow alley that separates Cama Hospital from another hospital called GT.

In the alley, the state of Maharashtra's anti terrorism chief, Hemant Karkare, sat in a police SUV packed with fellow officers, trying to coordinate a response to the mayhem engulfing the city. Creeping up, the two militants sprayed the vehicle with gunfire.

The officers appear to have died before any of them had a chance to fire back. The wall and metal blinds behind the van's spot are riddled with bullets. Not a single bullet mark could be seen by a reporter in the area from which the terrorists fired.

B.S. Sidhu, head of the Railway Protection Force for the Mumbai region, says that while some officers tried to fight back, there was little his force could do. Most police officers at the station -- as they are throughout India -- were unarmed or carried only bamboo sticks known as lathis. More than 40 people, including three police officers, were killed in just a few minutes, authorities said. The wounded survivors screamed for help amid acrid smoke, piles of slumped, bloodied bodies and spilling suitcases.SOURCE:Niraj Sheth in Mumbai and Krishna Pokharel in New Delhi

Here in the USA there are those who would take away the firearms of the citizens, a right guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. This massacre that happened in a vacation city in India could have been snipped in the bud if there were not only armed police, but a few dozen inhabitants who had the right to keep guns in their place of business and homes. The terrorists knew full well that the resistance would be minimal at best, because of the Pacifist nature of Indian authorities.

Let us not give in to those who would take away our guns. Then only criminals would have guns, and thank God we have a semi-vigilant Homeland Security force. If we let down our guard and follow those who believe They can just talk to terrorist and everything will be alright. We will have the carnage that was wrought upon the people in Mumbi.
The price of freedom is vigilance a smart man once said!

OUR FLIGHT FROM REALITY

“Remember Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a Democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” – John Adams, letter to John Taylor, April 15, 1814

THE AVERAGE AMERICAN DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FREEDOM AND LICENSE!
In recent years the Greatest Nation on earth has been slipping into the licentious nature off a Country that has entered into the trap that substitutes the rights we have as God given rights, and rights granted to Us by our Constitution and Bill of Rights with the acceptance of permissiveness and immorality.

Ronald Reagan said: "The ultimate determinant in the struggle now going on for the world will not be bombs and rockets but a test of wills and ideas - a trial of spiritual resolve: the values we hold, the beliefs we cherish and the ideals to which we are dedicated".

I have been lucky enough to have lived from the great depression to the present day. During this time I have been fortunate to witness the development of Penicillin that saved at least two of my younger brothers, and many more "miracle drugs" that have both prolonged life and made life more endurable for those suffering terminal illnesses.
Unfortunately I have also been witness to the degradation of our culture via the miracle of television and the Internet. In my boyhood days television was seen from late afternoon until midnight, and shows like Milton Berle's Texaco Star Theater, Ed Sullivan's Toast of the Town and Hody Doody were watched on 5 inch black and white televisions.
In my home state color TV was not available until the early 1950s, and then only on a limited basis for lots of money! Ten inch sets were the maximum size.

Today the choices are numerous. Satellite, cable and the old standard TV antennas depending upon your location and ability to pay. But the one constant is that no matter what your mode of reception, there is a avalanche of sexual content and violence available twenty four hours, seven days a week!

With programs like Sex and The City, there has been a significant increase in the number of television shows with sexual content over the last two years. Just one in ten of these shows includes a reference to safer sex or to the possible risks and responsibilities of sex.
These are among the findings of SEX ON TV: Content and Context, the largest study ever of sexual content on television. The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation released the study at its Sex on TV conference for entertainment industry leaders at the Museum of Television and Radio.

Their study shows that Sexual intercourse is depicted or strongly implied in 10% of shows, up from 7% during the 1997/98 season. Nearly a quarter (23%) of the couples in scenes with intercourse appeared to be young adults ages 18 to 24, and 9% appeared to be under age 18. In 16% of all scenes with intercourse, the couples have just met.

Nine percent of all shows on TV include sexual content involving teens (8% two years ago). In addition, more teen television characters are involved in sexual intercourse. Two years ago, 3% of all television characters involved in intercourse were teens; that figure is now 9%.

Ten percent of TV shows with sexual content make at least a passing reference to the risks and responsibilities of sexual activity about the same as the nine percent of shows with sexual content that included such a reference two years ago. Dramas are most likely to include such references (15%), and sitcoms are least likely to do so (5%).

And if you think television has degraded the morals of this country then the statistics about the movie industry are just as bad, if not worse from a moral point of view.
Movies were the most likely to contain sexual content (89%), followed by sitcoms (84%) and soap operas (80%). Reality shows were least likely to do so (27%). The largest increase occurred in situation comedies, which went from 56% to 84% of all episodes.

The purveyors of sex and violence have used the freedom of speech and tolerance to give way to permissiveness, and moral degeneration!

As a result the rate of teenage sexual activity has increased from a relatively small percentage of promiscuous teen age children in the 40s and 50s to the present high rate of teenagers, who despite taking birth control pill and available contraceptives, become pregnant.

Of the 29 million young people between the ages of 13 and 19, approximately 12 million have had sexual intercourse. Of this group, in 1981, more than 1.1 million became pregnant; three- quarters of these pregnancies were unintended, and 434,000 ended in abortion (What Government Can Do, 1984). The number of pregnancies increased among teenagers in all age groups during the 1970s, but among those who were sexually active the pregnancy rate has been declining. Because of increased and more consistent use of contraceptives by teenagers, the rate of pregnancy among them has been increasing more slowly than their rate of sexual activity. Although the number of teenagers who are sexually active increased by two-thirds over the 1970s, over half of U.S. teenagers are sexually inactive (Teenage Pregnancy, 1981).

About five percent of U. S. teenagers give birth each year. A recent study by the Alan Guttmacher Institute showed teen birthrates here to be twice as high as Canada, England, and Wales, three times as high as Sweden, and seven times higher than the Netherlands.

Although these statistics are somewhat deceiving because of the now mandated ability of a teenager to have an abortion without parental consent. The rise in the out-of-wedlock birthrate has continued among almost all groups of teenagers. The rise has been steepest among 15- to 17-year-old whites.
Repeated Unintentional Pregnancies
As might be expected, 78 percent of births to teenagers are first births. However, 19percent are second births, and four percent are third or higher order births.
Source: Subcommittee on Census and Population of the Committee on Post Office and Civil Service and Subcommittee on Health and the Environment of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, House of Representatives, Ninety-Ninth Congress,

After falling steadily for more than a decade, the birth rate for American teenagers jumped last year, federal health officials reported yesterday, a sharp reversal in what has been one of the nation's most celebrated social and public health successes.

The birth rate rose by 3 percent between 2005 and 2006 among 15-to-19-year-old girls, after plummeting 34 percent between 1991 and 2005, the National Center for Health Statistics reported. And not just coincidentally the number of explicit and suggestive sexual content shows has been increased during the same period!

The marriage rate also dropped to 7.3 in 2005 from 7.6 the year earlier and 7.7 in 2004, the report said. People are taking longer to decide who they'll marry and more are considering financial security, whether to have children. This tracks right along with the high rate of couples living together outside of marriage, and the high rate of abortion for connivance in career women.

Fifty-two percent of U.S. women obtaining abortions are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 33 percent of all abortions, and teenagers obtain 19 percent. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are 2 1/2 times as likely. Forty-three percent of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Protestant, despite knowing that their religion considers abortion a Mortal sin, 27 percent identify themselves as Catholic.

Two-thirds of all abortions are among never-married women. Over 60 percent of abortions are among women who have had 1 or more children. On average, women give at least 3 reasons for choosing abortion: 3/4 say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities; about 2/3 say they cannot afford a child; and 1/2 say they do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner. the sum substance of all three are abortions( killing a human being) for convenience!

More than 50 million abortions have been performed since Roe-Wade, and now we have partial birth abortions!
And we elected a President who voted twice not to give medicine or sustenance to a live baby born after a botched abortion!
And we call us a civilized Nation!
